What is COP?

COP, or the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties, is a significant global event focused on climate change. It is a crucial component of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and it serves as its supreme decision-making body. During COP, representatives from United Nations members are brought together to assess progress in addressing climate change, review national communications and emission inventories and shape international climate agreements.

This year’s Conference of the Parties will be held November 30 to December 12 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
At COP28, a groundbreaking global evaluation will take place for the first time. This assessment, known as the Global Stocktake and integral to the Paris Agreement framework, will provide a comprehensive overview of the world’s progress toward its climate goals, highlight any existing gaps, and pave the way for enhanced efforts in addressing climate change.

What are we calling for?

A global target on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

A way to bridge gaps between current renewable energy deployment and Paris Agreement targets.

A comprehensive program to tackle the global renewables skills gap.

Emphasis on boosting the capacity of the youth workforce in the energy transition.
